Using the healing power of music to help others in the Western New York Community!

"What you guys do at the hospitals is truly amazing. The music gave him a chance to dance
and be joyful and get a moment's reprieve from the issues he faced every day.
Thank you."  ~  Michael Ciesiulka

“The musicians are amazing! It is very inspiring to watch them make an instant connection with our patients, from infants to teens. There is no greater joy than watching the faces of patients, families, and staff when our musicians serenade the halls! Thank you so much for sharing the gift of music with us!”

“Veterans enjoy the wide variety of music performed throughout the year and  facilities at VA Western New York Healthcare System. Familiar songs brighten their days and offer a therapeutic value in addition to the kindness and compassion the musicians offer. Musician Medics has
been a wonderful way to enhance the healing process!”

Evangeline Conley, Public Affairs Officer

VA Western NY Healthcare System

“The veterans I work with are transformed by the live music provided by the Musician Medics program. The familiar tunes provide comfort, fond memories and joy at a time when those things might be in short supply. We are so grateful for the time and talents of the many people involved in making this
  program such a success.”

"For the last 5, of the VA Buffalo Adult Day Health Care's 32 years of service to our Veterans, the Musician Medics program has absolutely made a positive difference in all of our lives, and will hopefully do so for the VA WNY. Thank you Richard Sargent, Heidi Raphael and The Musician Medics volunteers for all you have done and continue to do for our Veterans!"

"We are honored and blessed to have the Musician Medics come every two weeks to share their talents with our patients on the Behavior floor. It's tremendous how music uplifts the soul to those who are struggling with depression and anxiety. Also it allows the staff to momentarily put the stress of their jobs aside and to allow the music to rejuvenate their spirits. As a society we are dealing with a major mental health crisis, this program inspires to help bring healing and hope to everyone involved."

The children LOVE the musicians and respond well to the type of music that is performed. Everyone from the music for medics program has become part of the HighPointe family, their positive attitude and personality is a reflection of the program and the healing work this program does for our children. Thank you Musician Medics.

“To see our Memory Care folks spring to life, smiling, laughing, dancing and singing is just the best sight and feeling in the world! It isn’t just helpful in the moment but those good feelings resonate throughout the day long after the program has finished for the afternoon.”

MUSIC TO REMEMBER WNY

Buffalo Music Hall of Fame Strikes a NEW Note

Music to Remember WNY will now carry on the mission of Musician Medics

Musician Medics have been delivering the healing power of music to hospital patients and veterans at the VA across the
Buffalo-Niagara region since 2014. Their highly successful 5 year mission of providing healing and comfort through the power of music to individuals and families during their time of need has made its mark throughout the Western New York community.

In May 2017, Musician Medics partnered with Music to Remember WNY and expanded their programming to include providing music to senior homes and assisted living facilities with Alzheimer’s and dementia units.

The Musician Medics completed its successful 5 year plan on December 31, 2019. Because of an already established partnership with Music To Remember WNY, and because the two groups have a similar mission, Music To Remember WNY has agreed to assume the programs of Musician Medics so the “Healing Energy” can continue.

Music To Remember WNY is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) and a partnered program of the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame. Its goal is to expand the reach of the program to include patients and veterans of all ages.

Local musicians volunteer their time on a monthly basis to perform and lift the spirits of patients in an up close and personal setting, such as a small gathering space, individual hospital room or a senior and memory care facility. In addition, Buffalo Music Hall of Fame members play an important role, serving as “ambassadors” on site, performing and also working closely with both the other Music to Remember WNY performers and facility staff on site during appearances.
