UNITY BAND - BMHOF CLASS OF 2003
The Unity Band was founded in 1983 by bassist, Thomas Fluker and has opened for many main events such as: The Chilights, The Manhattans, The Temptations, Ohio Players, The Delphonics and many more. This year Roy Ayers was added to the "Concert Opening" collection.
Specializing in all types of music ranging from Crossover to Blues to Rhythm & Blues to Country, the Band has won The Buffalo Music Awards in four separate categories: Bassist, Drummer, Keyboards and Guitarist. Past vocalists with the band have gone on to sing with the Godfather of Soul, James Brown, The Coasters, The Marvelettes.
Presently, The Unity Band is on the rise with a five piece musical unit consisting of (Thomas Fluker) bass, (Neil Harris) drums, (Kenny "Woo" Sutton) keyboards, (Kevin Jackson& James Samuel) lead and rhythm guitar, and (Patricia Edwards) vocalist.
The Unity Band has been seen locally at various events such as Thursday in the Square, Taste of Buffalo, The Buffalo Karibana, The Pine Grill Reunion and M&T Plaza. They have also appeared on Public Access Channel 20 and regularly travel around the WNY area.
From parties to concerts to special occasions to receptions, public and private functions, The Unity Band has been around 20 years, doing it all.
